Planning Blog
Outline:
My group and I will be making a parody/mockumentary of the famous TV show from the early 2000s, The office. Our remake will be called the classroom. The remake will consist of things that would usually happen in a school day for students. We have planned out places around the school that we will use to film in and set the scene for the trailer. Because the office does not have a trailer for the show we will have to create our own trailer from scratch and base it on what we think the trailer would look like if there was one. We did this by looking at clips of the show on youtube. This helped us to get a better idea of what it could look like.
Adam’s Ideas:
The Test trailer remake.
Sequel to our trailer from last year.
Luke’s Ideas:
The Office remake “The Classroom”
Some sort of action/horror involving students finding a hidden place within the school.
Ruadhan’s ideas: Remakes of famous movies such as fast and furious but take the mickey out of it. (parody)
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Our target audience will be students and recent past students of New Zealand High Schools because they will hopefully find it relatable and therefore funny, whereas older or younger people may find it harder to relate and probably won’t understand some of the jokes. Viewers of The Office may benefit from the added context by drawing parallels between our product and theirs.
Conventions: Cinematography - Our footage will be as raw and as real as possible. This is a convention mockumentaries use because mockumentaries are essentially satirical portrayals of reality in the form of documentaries. Even though we are doing a parody of a mockumentary we will still use the same conventions. Our lighting will be natural classroom lighting, our cameras will be handheld (probably smartphones) apart from when interviews are happening where the camera will be on a tripod.
Setting:
The setting of our film will be set in different classrooms around the school. The main room that we will use to film in will be upstairs in the library.
Sound:
The sounds that will be used in our mockumentary will be audio from from the actors conversing. We are planning on added sound affects to the mockumentary
Music:
We are planning on remaking the original song that features in the mockumentary "The office"
Title: The classroom
Actors, props and Costumes:
The three actors that featured in this short film trailer are Adam, Luke and Ruadhan. The props that were used in this film are mainly stuff that you would usually find in any school. Things that a school student would use everyday. For example we used desks and chair that we found in the upstairs library office room. We also used our chrome books to give the effect that in the film we were using them to do work. Since of trailer for our movie is set in a school/classroom the costumes that we used while filming is our school uniform.
List of equipment:
The equipment that we used in the film process of our trailer is our phones, which we used to record, a tripod, which we used to get different and difficult angles and shots and and lastly we were also provided a hand held camera stand that we could use to get steady shots for the film. But because of the way that the original Tv show is shot we decided not to use the camera as it didn't fit the way we thought it should be filmed.
