 Podcast Planning

Target Audience:

The target audience for our podcast is younger people . This is because of the topic that we are going to discuss is recently new to people and the opinions and views are coming from the younger generation we think that our podcast is best suited for people the same age as us.

Concept:

The concept for our podcast is what has happened in 2020. Since the subject that we have chosen is quite a broad subject so we have split up into three main ideas. The first event that is happening in 2020 that we are going to talk about is Covid 19 and how it has affected our economy and people all around New Zealand and the world. The next event that we will cover is the murder of George Floyd and the massive uproar in the USA over the BLM and police brutally. We will also cover all the riots and the protests that were happening in America against the acts of police brutally. We will talk about how the riots got out of hand and lead to many people being arrested and enveloped in stealing and vandalizing shops. Next we will talk the death of major celebrities such as Kobe Bryant and Chadwick Boseman. The target audience for our podcast will be later teenagers with the exception of older people that might interested on what the younger generations thoughts on Covid and BLM moment.

Treatment:

The first of our chosen convention is Speech. To meet the standards for the chosen convention we well have to take things like the pitch/tone of peoples voices, not to loud and not to quiet. We will also need to look out for things like swearing, lip smacking and being to close to the mic. To meet these requirements we are going to give our guests a quick brief before we start recording such as things they are aloud to say/do, where to sit so their not to close to the microphone.

The next convention is music. To meet the standards for the music convention we need to add some form of jingle/music to the beginning of the podcast. A good example of a podcast that does this is the Joe Rogan podcast, it has a very recognizable piece of music at the beginning which helps the listener to identify the podcast they are listening to. We are also going to use sound effects during the podcast such as laughing or a buzzer etc.

The next convention is Sound. There are lots of different sounds, such as ambience sounds, people talking, wind/air for people breathing and people moving around the set. All of these different sound we will need to account for. We will be briefing out cast before we start recording and also will be recording the podcast in the library as it is among the quietest places in the school since that is were we are recording it.

The next convention is silence. Silence is a big one as you don't always want people talking/sound all the time, silence can bring dramatic effect when you’re telling a story. silence would be best used when there is a end of a section or scene. Silence could also break down the dialogue which can help the audience think and help giving a breathing break.

The next convention is interviews. Our podcast is mainly based around our thoughts and opinions on what has happen in 2020. For this we chose to get a few of our friends in as guest speakers. Because of this we will be able top do into matters deep and understand others opinions on things like how the government is handling Covid 19 and the roar from the BLM movement happening in America.

Guest Questions:

What are your thoughts on ___?

How would you handle this situation?

How would you feel if you were in ____ shoes?
